Pizzas are known in many ways. They are popular food desserts in India. They are also known as mouth-watering nasturtiums in Europe. A few years ago, pizza was called a pizza delights when prepared at home. Today, the usual pizza is called a pizza and its content is a tomato sauce, with cheese and other vegetables. "Pizzas" are available in many flavors, the favorites being red, green, salty, sweet and cheesy.
Pizza is said to have originated from Italy. Peru, Bolivia and Peru have been mentioned as having a great influence on the flavor of the pizza. The food is extremely spicy there and the crust tastes like a bread. Inca bread is produced and used to prepare the food.
Europeans had a taste for the exotic and pizza was no different. The Italians had a offshore venture in the Middle East and brought the pizza to the shores of Sicily. Other Europeans brought the seeds of tomatoes to Europe and eventually led to the English pizza.
Today, pizza has become one of the biggest food events of the world. There are literally millions of pizza restaurants in the United States. On Super Bowl Sunday, there are typically 50-100 pizza restaurants around the United States serving over 600,000 fans.
The Hawaiian pizza is another delight of the sea. Hawaiian pizzas are a little smaller than their Italian counterparts and they are baked in the shell rather than directly on the stone baking them in an oven. They are said to be cooked in the shell because it gives the crust a crispy outer coating.
Pizza is considered to be an extremely unhealthy fast food item. Basically, this means that it is loaded with high calorie ingredients such as cream cheese and bacon and also a high amount of sodium. This labeling also does not comply with the latest nutritional standards which state that the calorie and fat contents must be of limited quantity and nature, the sodium in a pizza must not exceed 1, ammonium gram and the total fat content should not surpass 4 gram.
The California law was intended to:
1: require pizzerias to provide nutritional information in a consumer label as the "per topping" information for each pizza;
2: require all ingredients and nutritional information for pizzas to be available to the customers from the start of the pizzeria;
3: inhibit the sale of foods that are high in fat, sugar, and salt;
4: require that the nutrition and ingredient information for pizzas be available to the customers from the start of the pizzeria;
5: Make pizzerias provide healthier alternatives;
6: Limit intake of fats, salt and sugar on pizzas;
7: Encourage healthier cooking methods such as stir-frying, sauteing or baking the toppings;
8: Make lighter dough pizzas.
Currently, pizzas are low in fat and have been associated with cardiovascular disease. However, some studies have associated the ingredients with an increase in some cancers. For example, the total fat content in some pizzas is higher than the recommended daily limits. In addition, the fat and calorie content is extremely low and in such low fat portions that they can be sat on the counter of the vending machines without being noticeable; hence, a high fat content is not an issue.
Pizza has become the favorite in countries around the world and it is quickly expanding in the U.S.A. because of itspan pizza recipes, which are very trendy. Bread is a key ingredient and the dough is wonderful for you. Although many people have the notion that eating pizzas as a snack is a decadent affair, it is actually a very good source of solid calories. These items are high in fat and they are also loaded with sugar and salt.
If you would like to increase the nutritional value of your diet, you might like to decrease the consumption of pizzas and rise the use of whole grain instead. As far as the taste goes, you can also add other ingredients such as chicken and sunflower to your slice as well as reduce the cheese and substitute with soy cheese. Other than satisfying your taste buds, these can also make your lifestyle healthier.
Instead of consuming pizza, you could also have Spanish empanadas or Spanish rollups which are much healthier. With less than 10 toppings, these are even more convenient and will not leave you with a metal taste. You will find fewer ingredients with these type of pizzas and they are also very affordable.
If you are seeking a Mediterranean inspired pizza, you could do so with hummus and olives. They are both healthy and can be used in a variety of ways. Olives can be a source of antioxidants and help with weight loss.
